Julia's Baptism

Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas!!!
This has been a crazy week. I'm not sure were to begin. S I was transferred to Southern Pines. It's not too far from Pembroke. My last companion is now my Sister Training Leader. Sister Hesen ( my MTC companion) and Sister Spring are my companions. Wow another trio! I went on an exchange here last transfer, so I had met some of their investigators before. So far I love it here, and I love my companions and everyone we teach. We got permission to go to Pembroke for Julia's baptism! It was beautiful! We we were a little late. I was afraid we'd missed it. But my prayer was answered and we got to see it. Someone I was teaching in Hope Mills, was being baptized that same day, but I could only go to one.

We are excited about Christmas and being able to Skype home. Although our trio is getting broken up tonight. I'm really sad about that. Sister Spring is getting emergency transferred. Someone is going home early so she's taking their spot. So she's packing to leave and I haven't even finished unpacking yet. I'm getting close, but still. I'm sad that I only got to be her companion for a week. Maybe we will be put together again later on.

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

TRUE Happily Ever Afters

Dear Friends and Family,
I am getting Transferred out of Pembroke. Don't know where to yet. I'm leaving my 5th area. And we are planing a Baptism that I probable wont be able to go to. Little Julia got permission to be baptized. We had a few meetings this week. Sister Olive' and I sang in our Christmas Southern Zones Conference. (last year I was up in the North Meeting) We sang Fragile. It's a song on the Church web sight lds.org . It's too low for me but we did alright. Sister Olive' is very talented. It's hard to say good bye to so many people I love, I open my heart pretty quickly to people, and then I leave. Saying good bye to those I love can be one of the most difficult thing to do in my life, and I know there will be more friendly hello's, and that the bittersweet "good bye" is just another way of saying, "see you later." The Atonement of Jesus Christ, gave us the special, and everlasting gift of living mortal, and immortal. There is life after death. Fairy Tales do come true, and that there are happily ever afters! A very sweet old lady has been writing me for a while. I got an email today that she died this week, but I know that it's not the end. Everyone who has died or moved to a different location (farther from you), doesn't mean that it is the end of the world. I know that we will see all of our loved ones again.

"There are no true endings only everlasting beginnings." See you latter Pembroke. I will always love you! I will always love all my areas and the amazing people in them. #BFF #eternalFriends #NCRM

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

Updated Post (two emails in one)

Dear Friends and Family,

Thanksgiving was great! We eat at our Bishop's house. He had a roast instead of a Turkey. But it was really good.People keep saying that it's almost time to Skype again. I don't feel like that's sunk in yet. I don't really feel like the Holidays are here. I do but I don't at the same time. The leafs are falling. Fall is very pretty here. I'm excited for Christmas. It's strange how time goes by on a mission. I want on exchange with Sister Rich and we tracked a whole apartment complex together wile our companions where in a meeting.

CRAZY WEEK IN NORTH CAROLINA

This has been quit the week. Last Monday Sister Olive' did my make up. A member of our Ward died this week. We sang Be Still My Soul at his funeral. Our investigator Jenny got married and baptized on the same day. It was beautiful! We helped do her hair, make up and nails. One of our other investigators was going to be baptized as well but something came up. Hopefully she will be baptized soon. I hope y'all all saw the Facebook invite for the 12 days of Missionary work and try to do it and share your stories that aren't too personal on the page. Love y'all!

Sister Kimberly Galloway

Week of November 16th

Dear Friends and Family,

In a few days I'll have been a missionary for a whole year. It's been a crazy year. Time is going fast and slow at the same time. I have 6 months left. So far I've served in 5 areas not counting exchanges, counting my MTC companion I've had 9 companions. I can't tell you how many people I've taught, served or loved because there are too many. This year has been very hard but very rewording. I'm excited to see what's in store for the next six months. I miss friends and family back home, abroad and in my past areas. But God keeps giving me more people to love, so I keep on going. It's crazy to think back on everything that has happened this year. Things will never be the same. I have learned a lot but I have so much more to learn. I get to go on exchange with my MTC Companion this coming week. It will be neat to see how much she's grown too.
So far I am loving Pembroke!

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

5th transfer

Dear Friends and Family!

I was transferred to Pembroke this week. I was only in Hope Mills for 6 weeks. But it's an army town, so they are use to a lot of turn overs. I love Hope Mills. It's always sad to leave. But I am getting to know and love people here in my 5th area. My new companion is Sister Olive'. She's great!!! Pembroke is mostly American Indians, Mostly Lumbers. It's great! I get to teach descendants of Lehi! So far I love it! Sister Olive' is a Sister Training Leader so I want on an exchange while she went to a meeting. I got to go to Fort Bragg. It was neat to see the base. It is huge! I helped Sister Rich while both our companions went to the meeting. It was great! I gave a talk on Sunday about strength in serves and church callings. I hope it was good. I didn't have much time to prepare it. I love Y'all!

Enduring and Serving

Dear Friends and Family,

I am being transferred out of Hope Mills tomorrow. I don't know where I'm going yet. I have loved Hope Mills! Today is the11 year anniversary of my brother's death. It's hard still. But I asked some Elders to give me a Priesthood blessing yesterday. It helped me a lot. I know the Lord is blessing my family for my service. I know I am doing what the Lord wants me to do. I know I am needed in my next area.

Being in the Bible Belt

Dear Friends and Family,

I'm answering some questions today. If things go the way I expect, I should be coming home June 1, 2015. That's a crazy thought. It's coming up too fast. But I still have more time until then.

Hope Mills is great!!! I love it here. This is an army town, in the middle of Fayetteville, NC. We have been teaching and finding a lot of people here. Tracking really does work. Our Mission President has been encouraging us to use the Bible more in teaching. Which is great in the Bible Belt. Most of what we believe in, is in the Bible. I find it interesting when people who want to tare down what we believe, and say, "Just read the Bible!" I do read the Bible. I don't know everything in it, or have a perfect understanding of it, but a lot of the people that we talk to, end up telling us that they read the Bible, and still don't know any of the stories, other than Christ birth and death. I'm not posed to inviting people to read the Bible. But I know that the Book of Mormon will bring them even closer to the Lord, than the Bible. Although they should be read together.

I've been here for a little over a month. The Trio is doing good. My Companions are great! I'm grateful that our apartment is big enough for us. We have two bathrooms. We all sleep in the same room with a bunk bed and a single twin bed. We have a separate room for studies, a kitchen, and a living room. Preparation day is still on Monday's. I'm sorry that I missed a few weeks for sending out a group email. I was distracted with other letter that I needed to write, and I found out that Genesis was baptized.

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

A Life Changing Mission

I apologize as a publisher of this blog. This email post was last week. The email post for this week, is directly beneath it, titled, [Ponderizing General Conference]. I'll be sure to be more careful about when I publish her emails on here.

Dearest Family and Friends,

This week has been crazy!!! I've been transferred to Hope Mills. Sister Farr and I both left Hillsborough. One of the Sisters, white washing, was trained by the same Sister who trained my trainer. I find that comforting. My trainer went home to Utah. I have two companions now! We are in a trio in Hope Mills, a little town in the middle of Fayettville. We cover two wards like I did in Raleigh. Where one of my friends just got sent. I'm a senior Companion again like I was with Sister Farr. We are adjusting to all the changes and meeting lots of people. We've been really busy. This area is really close to Fort Brag. So there are a lot of army families. The leaves on the trees are starting to change colors. We get to go to the Temple and then listen to General Conference and I'm so excited!

We thought this couple the word of wisdom  and knowing that they'd already given up alcohol, and that one of them had been having a hard time with smoking, and we thought it would take him 5 years to stop, but this time he said he had already quit. He has no desire to smoke anymore. He stopped a week or a few weeks a go. He has been seeing the blessings from being smoke free and noticing the consequences from all that time he had been smoking. It was great! We all made goals to live the word of wisdom more fully this week.

I love this area. We have a lot of investigators right now. It's wonderful! I am meeting lots of amazing people. I love seeing how much everyone is so different and we are all struggling and the Lord loves and is helping each of us. I've meet so many people. I have seen the hand of the Lord in their life's. This is my 4th area, the 5th and 6th Wards and my 7th and 8th Companions. I've been out for a little over 10 months. So far I know that my life will never be the same. I am growing spiritually! My life has been touched by many amazing people. I know I have been able to touch many lives. I am so grateful for my mission. I know a lot of people didn't believe I could do it. I can't without the help of the Lord. But with the Lord all things are possible. This is the hardest thing I've ever done. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. My mission is stretching me in every way I can imagine. I am as I am inviting others to do, I am changing. I will forever be grateful for the lessons I'm learning. I love you all! I miss you! And I hope all is well where ever you are.

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

P.S. Please remind me when your and your family's birthdays are. I don't think I think I'm missing some.

Ponderizing General Conference

Her current address is now updated on the left side of this blog, under 'Write to Kimberly.'

Dear Friends and Family,

Ponderizing for this week: Alma 46:15. "And those who did belong to the church were faithful; yea, all those who were true believers in Christ took upon them, gladly, the name of Christ, or Christians as they were called, because of their belief in Christ who should come."

General Conference was amazing! I want to watch it again! I loved all the talks! We were able to got to the Temple this week! It was wonderful! I love the Temple so much!! It was very exciting! It's been raining a lot. There's a hurricane but it should miss us. How did y'all like Conference? I feel like the theem was how keeping the commandments makes us happy. Please remind me of upcoming birthdays. I was reading in Genesis today about Noah and the ark. I think it is intresting how old the Bible says they lived to be back than. This week was like Christmas with the Temple and General Conferanceso close together. I needed that. I hope you all got to watch. If not and even if you did, go back and read it. :)

"I love to see the temple.
I'm going there someday
To feel the Holy Spirit,
To listen and to pray.
For the temple is a house of God,
A place of love and beauty.
I'll prepare myself while I am young;
This is my sacred duty.
I love to see the temple.
I'll go inside someday.
I'll cov'nant with my Father;
I'll promise to obey.
For the temple is a holy place
Where we are sealed together.
As a child of God, I've learned this truth:
A fam'ly is forever."

Sky's Baptism, Listen to the Holy Spirit, and a Transfer

Dear Family and Friends,
Sister Farr and I are Both being transferred! Tomorrow! They are white washing the area for Sisters. We don't know where we are going. It is hard to say good bye. I have come to love many people in this area. But I know that the Lord is calling me elsewhere. Our investigator Genesis is getting close to Baptism. I hope we can get permission to go to it. One of my investigators form a previous area, Sky got baptized. I didn't find out about it until after the fact. But I'm very excited for them!
"And now, O king, if thou wilt spare our lives, we will be thy servants. And the king said unto them: Arise, for I will grant unto you your lives, and I will not suffer that ye shall be my servants; but I will insist that ye shall administer unto me; for I have been somewhat troubled in mind because of the generosity and the greatness of the words of thy brother Ammon; and I desire to know the cause why he has not come up out of Middoni with thee. And Aaron said unto the king: Behold, the Spirit of the Lord has called him another way; he has gone to the land of Ishmael, to teach the people of Lamoni." A Different Kind of Miracle

Dear Friends and Family,

We couldn't email yesterday because the Library was closed. We had an exchange this week. Sister Kelly joined me in Hillsborough. I forgot to take a picture so I'm sending you the one from last time. Sorry, I forgot.

We had a sweet lady walk up to us today at the Library, and she asked us if we were sister missionaries, and mentioned that she couldn't talk to us at the time, and that she would catch up with us later. Giving us a note, it stated that she is a member who just moved back here (North Carolina), and that she's questioning her faith. She gave us her contact info, and I am excited to get to know her! It was neat to have her reach out to us like that!

Our investigator Genesis agreed to be baptized and is praying about the date. She is very young but very wise. I'm so excited to see her growth. She's amazing.

We have another investigator who is very forgetful. But she loves the Lord and she always says at the end of our lessons that she knows that what we teach is true. But she doesn't want to give up her Church. It doesn't help that she forgets most of what we've taught her, but she has survived 2 brain aneurisms. I think repetitiveness might help her remember. I believe she is slowly progressing. Everyone learns at a different pace, her's is a bit slower because of what she's been through. But she is very happy. She calls herself the miracle lady because God let her live. She trusts that God is taking care of her, and we know that He is.

I am trying to mark the scriptures I like, (scripture verses that we use during the lessons), in a more effective way so I can find them quicker. I hope this works. I'm using different colored page markers for different lessons. I hope it turns out well.

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

Dear Friends and Family,

This has been a crazy week! We had interviews with our Mission President and his wife. We moved to a new apartment! We had Elder Dube from the 70 and his wife visit our mission. We got to hear them speak, meet they and take a group photo. All but of of the Sisters from my MTC district were there so we took a picture. We were very excited that all of our investigators made it to Church! I love my mission! I love this area! I am loving our new apartment. I love all y'all!

Half Way There!

Dear Family and Friends,

I've been on my mission for 9 months and have 9 more to go. I'm half way. Time is going both fast and slow at the same time. Here's a photo of Sister Farr and I getting ice cream after a hard day. We've been working hard and it can be quit draining. But we are loving helping people. We are getting ready to move.

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

The 'FUN' Zone.

Dear Friends and Family,

I am not being transferred but we will be moving on Tuesday the 25th of August. It won't be far. But if you are mailing things to me that you think will come on or after that, please send it to the Mission Office or wait for the new address.  I

Love all y'all! Sorry, some of these photos are blurry! We've started something fun with one one our neighbors this week. She has kids and we know she's been having a hard time lately. So we've been randomly taping coloring book pages on her door for her kids. We were trying to do it secretly so they wouldn't know where it came from. But we got caught the first time. They have since left a few colored pictures and thank you notes on our door. I hope the kids aren't too sad when we move. We haven't told them yet. But we want to keep giving them pages after we move. We wont be too far so I think we can keep doing it for a little while after we move. She told us the other day that her kids kept asking her, if we were home yet and got there note, and if we were going to try to be sneaky again. They are cute!!!

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway

(I felt like I shouldn't place the blurry photos. One photo
even had someone's head cut off. However, I am keeping
each photo safe in a gmail file - Shelby)

A Short Message

Dear family and friends,

The mission is a lot of hard work and it takes every bit of energy and will power that I have. But it is worth everything and more because of how much I get to help others towards their eternal joy and salvation.Sister Farr had her birthday. It went well for the most part. I think she was happy about it. I got her a little present, decorated the apartment and a few things like that. Sorry for sending so many short letters!

We had exchanges this week. I went to Durham with Sister Kelly for a day. Sister Farr's birthday is this next week. She's pretty excited about it! We have transfers on the 11th. We don't know what's happening yet. So if you are sending me something that would get here after that, please send it to the Mission Home, until after I hear what will happen. If I stay in this area again, please note that THERE WILL BE A CHANGE OF ADDRESS towards the end of August. We will be moving to a different apartment complex. We got permission to help with a Stake activity for Pioneer Day. It was great! There were some people I knew and loved from my first area there! It was great!!!! I love y'all! Sorry this is so short!

Courage and Faith.

Dear Friends and Family,

I got tired of how dingy my hair was looking, and bought some cheep hair die. It's been a tough week. Sister Farr found out that two of her family friends died in a lightning storm. She seems to be handling it well, but I can tell it's hard. It was her brother's best friend and that boys dad. Facebook is a hard way to find out about stuff like that. I know that for myself.

I don't remember if I told y'all that we have a new Mission President. Sometimes we teach the Gospel Principle class at Church. This week we taught about Temple work and Family History. I need to get more into doing family history when I get home from my mission. Yesterday was my 8 month mark on my mission. I have about 10 more to go. I've already been in 3 areas, 4 wards, and had 6 companions including the MTC, 3 of which have already gone home. Sometimes it goes by really fast and really slow. If I'm still in this area towards the end of August, know that there will be a change of address for those of you who write me directly. The Sister's here will be moving to a different apartment. Sister Farr is showing me how to cover my Book of Mormon in fabric it's fun p-day activity. I'll have to send a picture when it's done.

Sincerely,
Sister Kimberly Galloway
